Chiyumba, R&B and Pop Singer Launches new Website

November 24, 2009 – Chiyumba, a refreshing new talent from Sacramento, CA. with a mix of neo-soul, afro-beat, R&B and funk she is sure to amaze you with her wide vocal range and harmonious voice. Born in Nairobi, Kenya , she has been performing since the age of 6. She was a shy little girl however, through music she was truly able to express her emotions and communicate them to the world. She is multi-talented and besides singing, loves acting and dancing. Crowned Miss Kenya USA in 2007, she has performed at the Apollo Amateur Theatre in Harlem, at graduations, talent shows, churches, opened for football and baseball games, birthdays and community events. She has also acted in theatre plays such as “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” and “Loose Knit” at Sacramento State University. Her musical inspirations are Beyonce, Brandy, India Arie, Jill Scott, Joe and Musiq Soulchild as well as some African artists like Koffi Olomide, Awilo Longomba, Munishi, Oliver Ngoma and The Late Miriam Makeba. Doing many shows and appearances a year, Chiyumba has been hard at work on her debut album with her single “Prowl tonight” set to drop in first quarter 2010.
